If a company promises to put your website in the top ranking in the Google or Yahoo, then ratifying or deal with Google, Yahoo and others are using multiple methods to evaluate your site, you can not know how exactly will evaluate your site.

Don't Link to Your SEO
Don't trust the services of any SEO that states that you need to link to them to get the traffic that you need. More often than not, these are companies that will inflate your numbers with people who have paid pennies to click on your site, no matter what it is.

Look for a Specialist
Always look for a person specializing in SEO, and listen to his advice.
Professional Behavior
Tested SEO specialist who works with you. Does he do what he said he would? Does he respond to your questions in a timely manner?
